Workshop on introduction and discussion of intervention model for transgender women in Vietnam (July 12, 2019)
In the afternoon of 12 July, VHATTC - UMP successfully organized a workshop to introduce and discuss on evaluations, intervention on SUD for TGW at HCMC àn recent regions, with special presentation of Dr. Cathy Reback (Friends Research Institute) and Dr. Sherry Larkins (University of Los Angeles, California) from USA.
We're pleasure to welcome nearly 45 representativesfrom PACs at HCMC, out-patient clinics, Life center, SCDI and specially 9 CBOs providing intervention services for MSM and TGW
In the worrkshop, representing for research team form VHATTC - UMP, Assoc. Prof. Do Van Dung and MS. Vu Thi Tuong Vi shared some primary findings of Prevalances, level of substance use and risk of HIV infections among MSM and TG at HCMC and some neighbour provinces in 2019
Besides, MS. Nguyen Nguyen Nhu Trang - Director of Life Center also shared overiew of vervice network for this population that Life Center is providing
Come to this workshop, Dr. Cathy Reback, who had more than 25 years experience with research and intervention for MSM and TGW population, introduced TransAction Intervention model for TGW at Los Angeles, California, USA - one of many intervention models for TGW built up by Dr.TS. Cathy Reback
In the future, VHATTC - UMP will coordinate with some professors in USA and strategic partners in Vietnam to make plan, call for sponsors and implement intervention models for core populations at HCMC in particular and Vietnam in general.
